15 hours and 30 minutes is all it took for Jonas Lauck to win his first WSOP bracelet.

Lauck, a German professional poker player, managed to top the Event #56: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Super Turbo Bounty  for $260,335. The tournament attracted a strong field comprising of 1,867 players and had a $1,586,950 prize pool.

The turbo event was designed to last a day and a lot of experienced players gave it a shot. However, some household names such as Kalidou Sow, Kenny Hallaert, and Ryan Laplante failed to make the money. Daniel Negreanu finished 155th, Benjamin Zamani finished 26th, and Anto Wigg finished 15th.

Even though it was Lauck’s first WSOp bracelet, this was not his first high stakes tournament. He once won well over $1.5 million, albeit in an online hold’em tournament.

Here’s what he had to say after his win.

”I guess one of the biggest [achievements], for sure. It wasn’t the biggest cash but the bracelet is a big achievement that I wanted to have. For me, it was a special win because I was once heads-up and I lost. I wanted to have this bracelet and it feels very good.”

Jonas Lauck powers through the final table

Going into the final table, Jonas Lauck had the chip lead and a very loud rail which kept cheering him on after each hand.

Edward Courage was the first player to be eliminated. He moved all in and was snap-called by Aaron  Johnson who had pocket aces. His ninth-place finish earned him $20,793.

Johnson would later find himself on the wrong side of the action after losing a big pot to Robert Bickley. After the hand, Lady luck was not on Johnson’s side and he was later eliminated in eighth place by Lauck after he failed to make a top pair with his ace-queen against Lauck’s pocket kings. He won $26,992.

Arron Woodcock and Aaron Pinson were eliminated by Lauck in the 7th and 6th places respectively.

Five-handed play lasted a couple of hands before Anil Jivani was eliminated. Jivani shoved all his chips into the middle with queen-six and was called by Lauck with King-eight. He failed to make a pair and was eliminated.

Markus Gonsalves and Fernando Viana were eliminated in the fourth and third places respectively.

The heads-up play was short-lived as it only lasted two hands. In the final hand, Robert Bickley moved all in with pocket kings and Lauck called with ten-six suited. Lauck flopped a flush draw and Bickley was eliminated in second place for $160,820.
