 Martin Zamani fairy tale win

Soheb Parbandarwala was eliminated in the ninth place to set up an eight-handed final table.

At the beginning of the eight-handed play, Zamani was among the short stacks with only 20 big blinds to his name. Brian Altman, three-time World Poker Tour champion, held the chip lead.

Alex Foxen was the first player to bow out after busting to  Calvin Anderson.  Foxen moved all-in preflop with K-7 and was called by Anderson with J-2. Foxen flopped a pair but Anderson paired his jack on the river to win the pot.

It didn’t take long before Kuether was eliminated in seventh place after his pocket aces were cracked by Jason Koon’s A-4.

In just a few minutes, Koon lost a sizable chunk of his chips to become the short stack. His luck soon ran out and he was eliminated by Daniel Sepiol in sixth place.

With less than 10 big blinds, Sepiol was desperate to double up. However, his attempt to double up through  Mandavia fell through and he was eliminated in fifth place.

Sepiol’s incredible run soon came to an end after he was eliminated by Zamani in fifth place.

Shortly after,  Anderson was also sent to the rails by Zamani in fourth place.

Altman was next to fall after a fierce three-handed play. He shoved with pocket eights and was called by Zamani with K-Q.  The board ran out J-9-8-10-Q  and hence Zamani’s straight draw won the pot.

At the start of heads-up play, Zamani had a commanding chip lead with 3,650,000 to Mandavia’s 249,000.  Mandavia was soon eliminated in second place for $122,850.
