Paul Richardson is the winner of 2019 WSOP Circuit Thunder Valley Main Event.

Paul Richardson finally wins a WSOP Circuit main event after 3 close calls. He has finally proved he has what it takes to win the event at his fourth final table in the event.

At his first final table in 2017, he finished fourth, he also came close in 2018 when he also finished fourth. In January this year, he managed to finish 8th.

This time, he left nothing to chance in the final table and his efforts were rewarded with a top place finish. He won a WSOP circuit title, $130,667, and the most coveted WSOPC gold ring.

Here’s what he had to say after the win:

“Four out of five. It’s amazing. My friends keep saying you always finish fourth so it’s great to finish first!” Richardson told WSOP reporters after coming out on top. “It feels great. I’ve been playing poker for a long time and I’m slowly but surely getting better and better. I’ve been working hard on my game so it’s time to pay.”

Paul Richardson takes down the final table

The final table was made up of 9 players. Coming into the final table, Richardson was sitting pretty on the leaderboard, he was sixth out of 9 players.

However, as the field narrowed to 5, he did not see much action and he nearly dropped to the bottom of the barrel. However, he managed to double through Paul Chai twice to climb up the leaderboard. Later on, he won a big pot that pushed him to the very top of the leaderboard.

Paul Chai was the first player to fall to Richardson in the final table. Richardson started the hand with pocket tens while Chai had Ace-Jack. However, luck was not on his side and he was eliminated in fourth place for $43,198.

A few hands into three-handed play, Travis Fujisaka found himself on the receiving end after his Ace-Ten was trounced by Arish Nat’s pocket fives. He won $58,653 for his third-place finish.

By the time heads up play was commencing, Richardson already had a 2:1 chip advantage over Nat. Richardson won several pots to further cement himself at the top. In the final hand, Nat was in pole position with pocket three while Richardson had Ten-Nine offsuit. The board run out Jack-Jack-Eight-Eight-Seven and Richardson won the pot and the tournament. Nat took home $80,761 for his runners-up finish.
