Quan Tran is the latest WSOPC main event winner after emerging victorious in the  2022 World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw $1,700 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event . The tournament attracted 1,411 entries and had a prize pool of $2,137,665. His first-place finish earned him $336,412 and the coveted WSOP gold ring.  Additionally,  he was also rewarded with 960 Card Player Player of the Year points.

“I feel amazing and overwhelmed at the same time,”Tan told WSOP reporters after his victory. “This was my third Circuit event ever and since the first one it has been a dream of mine to win a ring and become a WSOP Circuit main event winner. It’s a very kind of special to begin this Vietnamese new year off with being able to have my picture hanging from the banner for everyone to see my face.”

The main event had two starting flights and took place over 4 days.

Quan Tran wins final table

Only 16 players returned on the final day and it didn’t take long before the official final table was set.  Heading to the final table, Tran was the chip leader. He added on to the chip lead after eliminating Richard Bennett in 9th place.

Justin Coliny was the next player to fall.  He moved all-in with A-K and was called by Raul Garza with pocket sixes. Both players failed to improve their hands and hence Garza won the pot. Soon after, Rick Alvarado was eliminated in seventh place. Alvarado’s K-J were no match for  Vierling’s pocket aces.

Bennett’s impressive deep run came to a sudden end after he was eliminated by Nate Steuer. Bennett failed to improve his A-5 while Steuer made a pair with his  K-8 hand.

Unfortunately, Steuer’s luck also run out as he was the next elimination of the day.  He lost a coin-flip against Garza and was eliminated in fifth place for $93,926.

Four-handed play was nothing short of exciting. A couple of hands in, Hayden Fortini found himself on the receiving end against Tran.  Tran’s three-bet forced Fortini to move all in which he lost after Tran turned a nut flush draw. Fortini was awarded $121,449 for his third-place finish.

In three-handed play, Tran was running the show. He first eliminated Vierling who was the short stack at the moment. Vierling had Q-8 while Tran had Q-9. The stronger kicker won the hand and Vierling was eliminated in third place for $158,286

In Heads up play, Quan Tran had a sizeable chip advantage which proved to be too much for Garza. Garza earned $207,927 for his runners-up finish.
