Mizrachi defeated Mike Vanier, who was also looking for his first WPT title but received $595,000 for his runner-up finish. Robert’s brother and two-time WPT champion, Michael ‘The Grinder’ Mizrachi, was also a part of the winner circle. ‘The Grinder’ has five World Series of Poker bracelets, while Robert has four bracelets on his poker resume. This event is a part of Venetian’s continuing DeepStack Championship Series, which featured three starting flights. The top 148 finishers shared the prize pool with a minimum earning of $8,500. Few notables to make a deep run included Tony Tran, who finished in ninth place to receive $89,000. Mike Eskandari came in tenth place, while Dapo Ajayi made it to the fourteenth position.
Day 4 Action
With only seven players, the final day battle continued for five hours. The official six-handed final table began after Arian Stolt’s elimination. He lost to Vanier when his top pair was not enough against the river flush of the latter. Stolt received a career-best of $145,000 for his seventh-place finish.
Javier Zarco was the first victim of final table elimination. He lost to Leon Strum when his queen ten did not improve against the pocket sixes of Strum. Zarco was unable to make a pair and had to leave the table in sixth place for $188,000. Next in the elimination line was Raul Manzanares, who lost to Mizrachi. Manzanares went home with $247,000 for his fifth-place finish.
Leon Sturm started the day as the chip leader but eventually lost his lead. The German player called when Mizrachi raised to 600,000. Sturm called when the flop showed A (Hearts), 10 (Diamonds), and 5 (Spades), while Mizrachi called with 7 (Spades) and 7 (Hearts). When Sturm turned over the cards, they showed K (Spades) and 5 (Diamonds), which meant he needed a lot of improvement to stay in the game. Finally, Mizrachi won the pot as the turn card was A (Diamonds), and the river card came out to be J (Diamonds). Sturm cashed a career best of $327,000 for his fourth place showing.
Mizrachi eliminated Yulian Bogdano after rivering a straight. Bogdanov earned $440,000 for his third-place finish.
The Heads-up Play
The heads-up play continued for only six hands. In the final hand, Mizrachi moved all in, and Vanier called all in with K (Clubs) and 10 (Spades). Vanier needed improvement after Mizrachi turned over A (Diamonds) and 7 (Clubs). Finally, the board showed A (Clubs), 7 (Spades), 3 (Diamonds), 6 (Hearts), and 6 (Spades), and Mizrachi flopped two pair to secure the pot and the title. Mike Vanier received 595,000 for his runner-up finish.
