Steve O‘Dwyer was delighted to close out the 2022 European Poker Tour Barcelona with a victory. He won the final high roller event of the series, earning his 31st live tournament title and 67th six-figure score. Earlier in the event, O‘Dwyer admitted he wasn’t happy with his trip to Barcelona so far. Previously, he earned a few flows of cash, including a deep run in the earlier €25,000 High Roller, and he was just short of the money bubble in the €10,000 High Roller.

Now O’Dwyer is going home with the 2022 EPT Barcelona €25,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em Tournament TitleThe Ireland-based poker pro defeated 52 entries to earn the title and €405,760 for his top finish. With this win, O’Dwyer increases his lifetime earnings to more than $32,955,932, which puts him in 14th place on the all-time money list.

This is the third title of the year for O‘Dwyer. Previously he secured the Irish Open main event, and a € 3,300 buy-in event at the partypoker Live Millions Europe tournament.

Only nine players made it to the final table, and the prize pool was distributed among the top seven finishers. Bracelet winner and 2022 EPT Barcelona €100,000 buy-in Champion Mikita Badziakouski fell just short of the money when his pocket tens were dominated by the A-4 suited of Juan Pardo.

Final Day Action

O‘Dwyer entered Day 2 as chip leader, and 12 more players entered the play before registration closed. The 62-year-old Erik Seidel became the first victim of elimination when his A-J ran into the A-K of Pablo Brito Silva. The nine-time bracelet winner cashed €65,550 for his seventh place.

The next player to hit the rails was Eelis Parssinen. The Finnish bracelet winner’s A-4 was up against the A-10 of Bruno Volkmann. Parssinen missed the nut flush draw against the Brazilian player’s flopped pair of tens. Parssinen received €84,280 for his sixth place showing.

Brazil’s Pablo Brito Silva found himself short-stacked with five remaining. He then lost a huge pot to 2022 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open main event winner Sergio Aido. Silva moved all in with A-3 against the pocket Kings of O‘Dwyer. The over pair held up, and Silva left the table in fifth place for €106,120.

After a while, O ‘Dwyer’s A (Diamonds) and J (Diamonds) defeated the 4 (Spades) and 4 (Hearts) of Sergio Aido. Aido left the table with €137,340 for his fourth-place finish. A few moments later, O’Dwyer moved all in with K (Clubs) and 6 (Clubs), and Volkmann called with A (Diamonds) and J (Diamonds). O’Dwyer flopped Kings and sixes, which decided the fate of Volkmann in third place for €181,040.

The Heads-up Play

O’Dwyer entered the heads-up with an almost 4:1 chip lead over Pardo. Pardo made a comeback but lost a huge pot when O’Dwyer picked off his river bluff. After that, there was no chance for Padro. Padro moved all in with J-3 against the J-10 of O’Dwyer, but O’Dwyer sealed the pot and title after a ten-high runout. Pardo received €268,430 for his runner-up finish.
