The lawsuit between former Wynn Resorts CEO Steve Wynn to be settled out of court. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission announced the decision on Thursday.
As reported by the Boston Herald, the commission has given the go-ahead to the legal team to settle. The announcement came after a five-hour meeting on 20th January. The lawsuit was filed by Steve Wynn against the commission, Karen Wells-commission’s lead investigator, and his former company.
According to court documents, Wynn is seeking restitution after an alleged breached attorney-client privilege. It is alleged that the Commission breached the attorney-client privilege when compiling the report on the sexual misconduct scandal which forced Wynn to step down from his company. The commission’s legal team was given the authority to settle by a Clark County District Court in Nevada.
Steve Wynn final hurdle
With the lawsuit set to be settled, the commission can now give a final decision on the status of Wynn Resorts gaming license. Interestingly, the lawsuit was the only thing hindering the commission from making a final decision for the Everett-based casino.
After the dust settles, the gaming panel is set to receive the report and investigate the casino’s operations during the “sexual misconduct” period. For now, Wynn Resorts license hangs in the balance and can be revoked by the gaming panel.
Speaking to Boston Herald, a spokeswoman for the commission, Elaine Driscoll said that the vote “eliminates the uncertainty of protracted litigation” and that it allows for “robust, public review of its investigatory findings.”

To clear the air about recent developments, Wynn Resorts issued a statement.
“We have worked closely with attorneys for the Massachusetts Gaming Commission and for Steve Wynn to reach a resolution that allows the commission to receive the information it believes is necessary to complete its investigation,” the statement read. “We are hopeful a hearing before the commission will be scheduled soon.”
The casino, estimated to be worth $2.5 billion, is scheduled to start operations in June which will make it the second largest casino in the state. MGM is currently the largest casino in the state after opening its doors in 2018.
In January, the company had a similar case, this time with the Nevada Gaming Board. The company agreed to pay an undisclosed fine to the state.
