After a long final day, Sung Joo Hyun won the star-studded final table at Wynn Spring Classic $3,500 Championship.

Joo Hyun earned $323,409 for his first-place finish. The tournament attracted 614 entries and a prize pool of $1,985,676 which was almost double the initial 1 million guarantee. Before the start of the event, 63 players were guaranteed to end in the money earning at least $8,342.

Out of 614 entries, only 34 players made it to the final day and the field would get even smaller in a few hours. Players such as Kevin Song, Qing Liu, James Anderson, and Jerry Ausmus were eliminated in 12th, 11th,27th, and 33rd positions respectively.

Adam Hendrix’s elimination in 9th place($38,611) marked the start of the final table. At the start of the final table, Mathias Auer had the chip lead while Hyun had the fourth biggest stack.

Auer extended his cheap lead when he eliminated Chris Moorman in 8th place. Moorman moved all-in from the small blind with K-10 suited and was called by Auer who had A-K(offsuit). Auer made a pair on the flop and held on to send Moorman to the rails. Moorman took home $45,760.

David Cabrera Polop was the next player to fall. He moved all-in with K-8 and was called by Hyun with pocket kings. He missed all his outs and was eliminated in seventh place for $55,291.

Mihai Minole was playing rather conservatively but an all-in with A-7 was his biggest blunder for the day. He was eliminated by Mathias Auer who had pocket jacks. Manole failed to make a better pair and was eliminated in sixth place. He earned $69,588.

Matthew Wantman was Hyun’s second elimination of the final table. Wantman’s K-7 was no match for Hyun’s A-K. His fifth-place finish earned him $89,842.

In the four-handed play, Eric Afriat thought he had doubled up when he landed two pair on the turn. However, unknown to him, Auer had already made a flush and he was eliminated in fourth place. He pocketed $121,450.

Auer continued his run into three-handed play and had a massive chip lead. However, Hyun cut into the lead after eliminating Failla in third place. Failla’s third-place finish earned him $173,240.

Heading to heads-up play, Auer head a significant chip lead. He had 15,560,000 chips against Hyun’s 9,000,000. They agreed to split the remaining prize money. As per the agreement, each player would get a minimum of $323,408 but the winner would net an extra dollar and the trophy.
