In a few years to come, that is by 2020; Las Vegas will be bragging a mega extravagant resort, Resorts World Las Vegas Casino. Wynn Resorts, however, needs the property to make some changes. Wynn Resorts is claiming that there is a lot of similarities between the two buildings.

 

The concern

The magnificent Resorts World is a $4 billion project from a Malaysian gambling giant, Genting Group. It is currently undergoing construction across the street from the Wynn and Encore Resorts. Wynn opened its doors in 2005 with the Encore grand opening following in 2008. The Wynn lawyers, however, express concern that the architectural similarities between the two buildings might confuse their customers and the public at large into believing that the neighbors are related.

The similarity is a concern because The Wynn operates similarly-styled properties in Macau and another upcoming casino in Everett Massachusetts.

 

The lawsuit

The lawsuit states that “the architectural design embodied in defendants’ Resorts World Las Vegas hotel and casino is substantially similar to plaintiff’s registered copyrighted architectural work, and therefore the defendant is violating plaintiff’s copyrights in addition to plaintiff’s registered and common law trade dress.”

If Wynn Resorts will be successful, Resorts world may be forced to undergo a complete architectural remodel.

 

Resorts world greenlight

Nevada gaming regulators gave Resorts World the green light in May 2016. The top of the line casino was scheduled to be officially opened around this time. With the groundbreaking in 2015, a lot was expected from the mega-resort however it is still hitting setbacks. There are many other casinos have been remodeled, with the grand opening of the casino been rescheduled to 2020.

Where Resorts World stand is a site previously owned by Boyd Gaming.it is believed the infamous recession in 2008 forced Boyd to stall their Echelon development. Soon after the recession, the property was bought by Stardust casino. It was later bought by Genting for $350 million in 2013.
