Sejin Park has won the fourth edition of the Colossus for $451,271. He became the first male South Korean poker player to ever win a World Series of Poker bracelet. Surprisingly, this is Park’s first WSOP cash. The tournament attracted 13,109 entries.

To accommodate more players, the colossus had a $400 buy-in, $165 lower compared to previous editions.

Final Table action

The final table comprised of nine players all looking forward to winning a WSOP bracelet and the huge first-place prize. 7 out of 9 players in the final table had never won a WSOP bracelet. Andrew Barber was the only player with a bracelet to his name. He won the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E event back in 2015.

Coming into the final table, Georgio Kapalas had the chip lead while Andrew Barber had the second biggest stack.

Diego Lima was the first player to be eliminated and he earned $41,965. He was eliminated by Ryan Depaulo.

Barber continued to stack chips after eliminating Maksim Kalman in eighth place. After the river, Kalman failed to make a pair and his overcard was no match for Barber’s pair of jacks. After the hand, Barber became the chip leader. At the time, Kapalas and Barber were overwhelming chip leaders with over 50 million chips.

Patrick Miller was the next player to be sent to the rails in seventh place for $69,757. Kapalas regained the chip lead after the elimination. Even though the seventh-place finish may not be good enough for a WSOP bracelet, this was Miller’s first deep run in WSOP and his first WSOP cash. He has never made a WSOP final table before.

Sejin Park doubles up

Kapalas continued to power through the final table, building a 4:1 chip lead. At some point, his closest opponent was more than $200 million chips behind. At this point, anyone would have tipped him to win the tournament, but Sejin park had other plans.

Sejin Park was almost eliminated in the sixth place but he regained his footing after doubling through Kapalas. He later eliminated Norson Saho – the short stack in sixth place. Saho took home $90,838.

After a few hands, Park took the chip lead after doubling through kapalas much to the excitement of his rail which included Jiyoung Kim – the winner of Ladies Event.

Barber was eliminated in fifth place by Kapalas for $119,072. This was his best run in WSOP since his bracelet win in 2015.

Park eliminated Juan Lopez in fourth place and held a 3:1 chip lead. Lopez took home $157,106

Three-handed play didn’t last long before Depaulo’s luck ran out. He won $208,643.

With a commanding chip lead against Kapalas in the heads up play, Park went on to win the event. He became the first South Korean man to ever win a WSOP bracelet.
