The Triton Series is currently underway at the Merit Royal Diamond in North Cyprus and will continue till September 18th. This series has 13 high-stakes events, attracting elite players from all over the globe.

Khale Burns defeated 88 entries to win the 2022 Triton Mediterranean Poker Party $75,000 buy-in no-limit hold ’em event. The Australian pro cashed his career best of $1,730,000 for his first-place finish. Burns’s lifetime earnings have now increased to approximately $14.3 million, putting him in second place on the Australian all-time money list.

The top 13 finishers made it to the $6,600,000 prize pool. Triton Madrid Event Champion Lazlo Bujtas finished in thirteenth place and received $135,000. Another Triton winner, Michael Soyza, was eliminated before the final table and received $135,000. Pedro Garagnani cashed $144,000 for his 12th place, and Bruno Volkmann also got $145,000 for his 10th position. The World Poker Tour (WPT) Champion Jonathan Jaffe cashed 185,000 for his ninth-place showing.

Final Table Eliminations

Final table eliminations started with Santosh Suvarna, whose A-8 were dominated by the K-Q of Linus Loeliger. Suvarna received $245,000 for his eighth-place finish. Artem Vezhenkov moved all in with his K-J against the J-9 of Burns. An eight on the turn and a Queen on the river favored Burns to eliminate Vezhenkov in the seventh place. Vezhenkov cashed $315,000 for his efforts.

Loeliger was the next player to fall as he moved all in with K-5 suited against the J-10 of Burns. Burns soon rivered a pair to send Loeliger home in sixth place. The Swiss pro received $400,000 for his deep run, which increased his live tournament earnings to more than $3.3 million. Loeliger’s online earnings are in millions under the username ‘LlinusLLove’.

Talal Shakerchi became the next victim of elimination. The Hedge-fund manager’s pocket deuces failed to dominate the A-Q of Sam Greenwood. Shakerchi received $510,000 for his fifth-place finish, increasing his lifetime earnings to over $8.8 million.

Fourth place favored Yuri Dzivielevski, who moved all in with A-9 against the A-4 of Burns. Dzivielevski had to leave the table when Burns rivered a straight. The Brazilian took home $630,000 for his fourth place showing. WPT champion Seth Davies also lost to Burns. His Q-J ran into the pocket aces of Burns, ending his journey to the final table in third place for $815,000.

The Heads-up Play

Burns entered the heads-up with more than a 3:1 chip lead over Greenwood. The Canadian reduced that lead a bit at the early stages, but Burns retained his position. In the final hand, Greenwood moved all-in with 4 (Diamonds) and 4 (Clubs). Burns called with A (Diamonds) and 7 (Diamonds). The board showed 9 (Spades), 6 (Clubs), 5 (Hearts), 7 (Hearts), and 5 (Clubs), locking the pot and title for the Australian. Greenwood received $1,210,000 for his runner-up finish and increased his career earnings to more than $26.7 million.
