Born to a traditional Taiwanese family, her family moved to Los Angeles when she was four with her parents and sister. Even though she is an American citizen, she still has ties to her birth country.

Initially, she wanted to be a lawyer, and she has a degree to boot. However, it is after she graduated from the University of California, in San Diego, that she officially decided to try poker.

However, at the time, she knew nothing about professional poker, and she did not start making money from the onset. Instead of getting discouraged, she worked on her game, which has seen her grow to be one of the best players in the world.

As of today, throughout her career, she has earned over $3.9 million. The bulk of her live cash comes from WSOP, where she has 57 cashes and $1.6 Million to her name. In the same vein, apart from being a WSOP grinder, she is a cash game specialist. Maria Ho currently ranks 344th on the All-Time Money List and 59th on popularity ranking. She is the perfect definition of beauty with brains.
