Paul Phua, a Malaysian businessman, holds the record for most amounts of cash on high-stakes triton series tours. Phua has made eight figures of earnings from the Triton events. Phua defeated 93 entries in the 2022 Triton Series Madrid €30,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em Seven-max event to earn his first Triton Title for €740,400 ($777,420).

Phua’s career earnings have now increased to about $25 million, and he is in 21st position on the all-time money list. Previously, Phua came in second place three times with seven-figure prizes. Phua expressed his and said he was thinking of the runner-up fourth time, but somehow cards favored him. This is the fifth final table finish for Phua in 2022.

Final Day action

21 players participated on the second and final day, and 13 made it to the prize pool. Fedor Holz finished in thirteenth place to win $58,800. Michael Souyza made it to the twelfth position for a prize of $58,800. Dant Tang went home with $63,000 for tenth place, and Patrik Antonius got the ninth position with a prize of $82,005. Phil Ivey made it to the eighth place, and the final table action started officially.

 

Final Table Action

The first victim of the elimination was Michael Watson when his K-Q could not hold against Issac Haxton’s A-J. Watson earned $139,125 for seventh place. Next in the elimination line was bracelet winner and Super High Roller Bahamas winner Daniel Dvoress. He lost to Phua when a king-high on the river favored Phua. Dvoress made $175,770 for his sixth position. Dvoress’s lifetime earnings have now increased to more than $21.5 million, and this was his tenth final-table finish.

Ben Heath, another bracelet winner, lost to Erik Seidel when he decided to go all-in with Q-J against Seidel’s A-2. Heath received $225,540 for fifth place. Next on the rail was Kannapong Thanarattrakul, whose J-10 was a no match against A-9 of Haxton. Thanarattrakul left the table with a prize of $279,825 for his fourth position. Issac Haxton was not lucky enough to continue the game and lost to Phua’s K-10. Haxton pocketed $357,315 as a third-place finisher.

 

The Heads-up play

Phua had a small lead in the heads-up, but Seidel turned things around and took back the chip lead to even 2:1 at one point. Phua’s K-10 dominated Siedel’s pocket jacks, which ended in Phua finding a double-up. Phua decided to go all-in with A (clubs), 5(Spades), and Seidel called with 10 (Hearts), and 7 (clubs). Phua’s nines and fives decided the fate of Siedel when the board ran out 9 (Spades), 6 (Clubs), 5 (Diamonds), 9 (Hearts), and Q (Diamonds). Seidel received $540,540 for his second place and this was Siedel’s sixth final table finish of the year.
