Bellagio Casino Robbed, again!

Summary

Friday night, March 15th turned out to be an eventful day at the Bellagio Casino. An armed robber died while trying to flee from the vicinity of Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas. The yet to be identified robber was in the process of getting away with $35,000 when law enforcement officers caught up with him.

The armed robber shot at the police and the ensuing gunfire exchange claimed his life. The slain armed robber is said to have stolen $35,000 from one of the cashiers at Bellagio Casino.

Shots Fired at Bellagio Casino Valet

Eyewitnesses at the scene claim that at around 9:45 PM, a robber approached the Bellagio Poker room cage. After reaching the cage, the robber threatened the cashier by brandishing his weapon while demanding cash. It is believed that the robber made away with $35,000 from the cashier’s cage. The number of casino chips the armed robber stole from the cashier’s cage is however unknown.

After exiting the poker room, the robber approached the casino’s valet parking located on the establishment’s Northside. Police caught up with the robber at the valet parking while attempting to hijack a car. During the ensuing engagement, the robber shot at one of Las Vegas Metro Police Department’s officers.

The police officers then returned fire, hitting the armed robber once. The robber sustained life-threatening injuries to which he succumbed while receiving care at University Medical Center. The officer who took a bullet to the chest is also receiving treatment and is expected to survive, thanks to his bulletproof vest.

Police are currently interviewing multiple witnesses following the Friday night incident which occurred at a time when the Bellagio Casino is packed.

Scanty details

The law enforcement agencies are yet to release details of the robbery. Some of the information we are expecting to be shared soon include the names of the suspect and the officer involved. But, as standard policy, we will be expecting the information on the identity and details of the wounded officer in the course of the week.

Captain Nichole Splinter told the members of the press and other media outlets to expect a detailed report on the Bellagio Casino incident in 72 hours.

Second robbery attempt

This is not the first violent robbery attempt on Bellagio. The casino was also targeted a while back.

A similar incident took place at the Bellagio 16 months ago; revealing that the Ocean’s Eleven featured casino is a prime target for robbery attacks.
