Daniel Negreanu clinched his Third Player Of the Year Title after bagging the 2019 WSOP POY.

However, his was a tense moment as he waited for the conclusion of the final event of the 2019 WSOPE. Going to the event, Shaun Deeb would have clinched the POY title but he was unfortunately eliminated in the 11th place.

A fifth-place finish or better was required for Shaun Deeb to overtake Negreanu and win his second POY. He won 2018’s WSOP POY title. However, his 11th place finish was not enough to win him a POY title and he was forced to settle for a third-place finish behind Robert Campbell who finished second.

Was it not for Campbell’s stellar performance in the colossus, Deeb would have finished second only behind Negreanu. Campbell and Negreanu both cashed out at the colossus to help them clinch the second and first place respectively. That was Negreanu’s seventh WSOPE cash and his overall 24th WSOP cash, a stellar performance by all means.

A breakdown of Negreanu’s Cashes includes five final table finishes and two second-place finishes. However, unfortunately, he was unable to win a bracelet to add to his tally of 6.

 

Reactions

As expected, Negreanu’s win drew reactions from different quarters. First, Shaun Deeb was disappointed and he took to Twitter to express his disappointment.

Drawing a sharp contrast, Negreanu was jubilant and to that end, he posted a series of tweets to celebrate his win.
