The 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continues at the Bally’s and Paris, Las Vegas, and is attracting a lot of poker lovers from all over the world. The Russian player, Denis Nesterenko, made his way to the top by defeating 350 entries in the Event# 20: $1500 triple draw deuce-to-seven lowball. The Moscow resident also claimed his career’s first bracelet and career-best prize of $108,250.
Only nine players made it to the final table on the third and final day of the event. The heads-up play lasted for just over eight hours, and Nesterenko defeated Von Altizer to finish in the first place. Nesterenko expressed his joy after the victory and was very happy.

The seven-handed final table was set after the elimination of James Maguire and Keny Hsiung. James Maguire was eliminated by Hieu Luu in the ninth place, while the American pro, Kenny Hsiung also lost to Luu to finish in the eighth position.
Final Table Action
Previous year’s second-place finisher of the same event and the player with minimum stacks on Day 3, Peter Lynn, was the first victim of elimination when his King-high was defeated by eight-seven of Yufei Zhong. Lynn earned $10,945 for his seventh position. Next to fall was one of the most experienced players and the winner of four bracelets, Beny Glaser, whose eight-seven were not enough against Zhong’s drawn seven-six. Glaser secured sixth place for a prize of $10,945.
A few moments after the break, Yufei Zhong, who entered the day as the second chip leader, lost to Nestereko’s nine-eight. The Chinese player left the table in fifth place for $20,948. After Zhog’s elimination, the game pace slowed down a bit until Hieu Luu’s elimination. Luu was short-stacked from day 2 and struggled to keep up with the table but eventually got out in the fourth place when he went all-in against Nesterenko. Luu received $30,107 for his fourth position.
A few moments later, Evan Sayer had to return home when his ten-eight were dominated by nine-eight of Altizer. Sayer cashed $44,347 for his third-place finish. Now it was time for the heads-up play between the two players.
The Heads-up Play
Nesterenko had a 5:3 chip lead in the heads-up, which he dragged till the end. Altizer was on the verge of losing the game twice when she was down to her last card, but Nesterenko couldn’t finish it off. Eventually, Nesterenko claimed the pot and the title by dominating the Altizer’s eight-five with his seven-six. Back in 2012, Altizer finished seventh in the same event, but she will be disappointed with her second-place finish. Altizer received her career’s largest cash, $66,910, for her runner-up finish. Meanwhile, Nesterenko entered his name into the WSOP gold bracelet winners list.
