Eli Elezra proved to the world that he’s still an elite player after winning his fourth WSOP bracelet.
Elezra won the $1,500 Seven-Card Stud for $93,766.
Before the event, he had predicted he would win a bracelet and fortunately, his predictions have materialized.
“When we went to Cabo, I told my buddies, I’m gonna win a bracelet this year and I’m gonna win it in stud.”
According to Elezra, his extensive experience in stud poker gave him an edge over other players in the final table.
“I saw more [stud] hands than everyone who played with me[…]And as I say, stud loves me back.”
Several mixed-game pros made the final table with players such as David Singer, Rep Porter, and Scott Seiver. The first two days of play were slow for Elezra but his impressive run on day 3 earned him a lot of chips. However, he was not alone. Anthony Zinno also had a good run in day 3.
Here’s what Elezra said about day 3.
“Out of eight hands, I make six straights and I pick up aces. So, it’s brainless. Once you make straights against people who have two pair or whatever, you’re gonna get huge chips.”
The three-handed play comprised of Elezra, Zinno, and Valentin Vornicu. Vornicu was the short stack and it did not take long before he was sent to the rails by Elezra.
Eli Elezra wins heads up play
The heads-up play was nothing but entertainment and the players exchanged cheap lead several times. Also, Both players have extensive stud experience but Elezra had the upper hand.
“He’s one of the best players out there but I told him he’s short, I’m about 30 years above him in stud[…]He just started playing about five years ago in stud.”
The heads-up play lasted several hours since none of the players was ready to commit a lot of chips at the beginning. However, as the play progressed, they warmed up to each other.
After the final hand, Elezra embraced Zino and complimented him for putting up a fight.
“I think in the end, I was mostly lucky because Anthony’s a really good player,” he said.
