Final Day Action

With ten players starting the final day, Orson Young was the first player to be eliminated in the Level 28 of the play. Two hours later, Dwayne Sullivan and Jeremy Wien became the victim of a double-elimination by Pechie. Sullivan received $31,009 for his ninth-place while Jeremy Wein went home with $39,843 for his eighth position.

The French player, Michel Leibgorin, lost to David Dibernardi and was eliminated in seventh place with a prize of $51,766. A few moments later, Dibernardi himself became the victim of elimination. He received $68,002 for his sixth-place finish. The 77-year-old poker legend Steve Zolotow lost to Pechie and was eliminated in fifth place. The two-time bracelet winner received $90,306, and everybody cheered as he left the table. This was the second final table of the series for Zolotow, including the fourth-place finish in the $2,500 no-limit hold ’em freezeout event.

Kenny Robbins was the next player in the elimination line. He received $121,224 for fourth place. Now, it was Pechie versus the two Frenchmen, but Pechie took a massive lead over Maxime Parys to increase his chip lead to approximately 70%. Parys lost to his fellow Frenchman, Samuel Bifarella, and received $164,469 for his third-place finish.

The Heads-up Play

The heads-up battle between Pechie and Bifarella continued for some time. Pechie played calmly, and it looked like he never took advantage of his massive chip lead. The match concluded when Bifarella went all-in on the flop with king-deuce. In response to that, Pechie called with five-six for two pair. Unfortunately, Bifarella missed 19 outs to strike on the river. Finally, Pechie became the champion, and Bifarella received $225,506 for his runner-up finish.
