Lukas Zaskodny has been crowned champion of the Partypoker Live Millions Europe.
The Partypoker tournament attracted a total of 504 entries and was held at King’s Resort Rozvadov.
Prior to the tourney, Partyoker hosted a myriad of online satellites for a chance to win a ticket for the €10,300/$11,300 main event.
Tournament recap
The main event kicked off on August 14 and the total number of registered players stood at 504.
The total prize pool after registration stopped was $5.5 million. Partypoker’s brand was well represented with Bertrand Grospellier and Dzmitry Urbanovich leading the charge. One of the favorites, Mauricio Paris, was bundled out in 73rd place.
Day 1 and Day 2 were somewhat quite and all the big names remained in contention for the first-place prize.
However, on day 3, Charlie Carrel started pulling away from the rest.
Final table
The final table comprised of 8 players. In the final table, Lukas Zaskodny had a good run. However, things were not looking up for Carrel after losing an all-in to Zaskodny a few hands into the final table which reduced his stack substantially.
The first player to be sent to rails was Rastislav Paleta. He was soon followed by Carrel. A few hands later, Roberto Romanello was sent packing in the sixth place. It did not take long before a fellow Brit, Sam Grafton, was eliminated in the fifth place.
Four-handed play did not last long. Severin Schleser tried slow playing aces before pushing all his chips towards the center of the table. The flop was Q-10-4 and they all checked. The turn was an 8 and triggered action from Schleser who moved all-in and was snap-called by Zaskodny who had Q-4. Schleser was eliminated in fourth place.
Lukas Zaskodny wins three-handed play
Down to three, Romain Lewis’ attempt to double through Josef Snejberg fell through and he was eliminated in third place.
Before the heads up play commenced, Zaskodny and Snejberg agreed to equity chop. Since Zaskodny had more chips, he managed to secure $890,367 while Snejberg secured $792,674, and $110,365 was up for grabs.
In the final hand, Zaskodny had pocket tens and Snejberg had A♠T♦. Snejberg moved all in and was called by Zaskodny. The board rang out 6♣J♣5♦5♥6♦ and Snejberg was eliminated in second place for $792,674. The first-place finish earned Zaskodny $1, 000,732.
