The Austrian Player, Benedikt Eberle lost to the ace-queen of Mark Fester and returned home with $11,507 for his fifth position. Luke McCredie lost to Fester and earned $114,416 for fourth place.
The French Player Anthony Cierco was unfortunate enough to continue and lost his game to Nicholas Wright. Cierco received $152,851 for third place.
The Heads up
Fester had a chip lead in the heads up but Wright followed him closely. On the final hand, Nicholas Wright came up with a call to raise 2,000,000 from Fester. Wright responded with a check-call on the flop of K (hearts) 5 (spades) Q (Diamonds). Wright put money in the pot when Mark Fester checked to him with a J (Hearts) on the turn.
With an 8 (Hearts) on the river, Fester checked again and then decided to move all in, in a response to a bet from Wright.
Fester had an A (Diamonds), 10(Spades) for a turned Broadway straight and Wright’s K(Clubs), K(Spades) for a flopped set were not enough for the victory.
Mark Fester is an Australian player who loves playing poker casually however, he managed to secure a six-figure score. This is by far the career best for Fester. His previous best was $18,892 for his second place at the Sydney Championship in a $1,500 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha event.
After becoming the champion, Fester told Media that he feels like a dream come true. Fester also said that he has been playing poker casually for many years and got involved with poker at the time when WSOP and WPT were becoming trends and were considered big names. The WPTDeepstacks champion loves to watch many tournaments and likes to follow his favorite players. Fester says that to him, becoming a champion was an unachievable dream, but finally, he achieved it.
