Ole Schemion, a German poker pro, is the WPT Tournament of champions winner.

The tournament attracted 76 entries which are slightly lower than last year’s total of 80.

It took Ole Schemion three days to emerge the winner, consequently earning his second prestigious WPT title for a whopping $440, 395. In addition to the cash, Schemion also won an entry into next year’s event. He also won a Baccarat Crystal vase, a custom BBO poker table, and a limited edition Hublot watch.

Talking to WPT reporters after winning the final table, Schemion could not hide his excitement.

“Champion of champions […]It feels great. I’m tired and happy to go home now, but I’m satisfied. It was a nice tournament overall and nice to win,” he said.

Ole Schemion WPT achievement

At the moment, according to Hendon Mob, Schemion ranks fifth on Germany’s all-time money list. He has over $15.3 million live earnings.

He managed to top a star-studded final table that included the likes of WPT commentator Tony Dunst who was the runners-up, Ryan Tosoc(3rd), Simon Lam(4th), Griffin Paul(5th), and Nick Schulman who finished in sixth place.

Other top players who narrowly missed out on the final table include Aaron Mermelstein (7th), Dominik Nitsche (8th), Jonathan Little (9th), and Noah Schwartz (10th).

From the onset, Schemion was determined to win his second title and he entered the final table with a sizeable cheap lead. However, he almost blew it after a couple of hands, but he later regained composure to emerge the victor.

As mentioned earlier, Schemion now has two WPT titles. He won his first title in 2018 at the WPT European Championship. He won $255,352.

Schimion and other players who had won a WPT title during Season XVII had an automatic entry to the event since the buy-in was part of their first-place price. However, WPT also opened the tournament to past champions for $15,000.

Here is a breakdown of tournament payout.

1 Ole Schemion $440,395
2 Tony Dunst $250,265
3 Ryan Tosoc $166,845
4 Simon Lam $115,945
5 Griffin Paul $84,140
