Brandon Adams Concedes Defeat in Galfond Challenge

Over the past several months, we have witnessed several high profile heads up challenges. Without a doubt, Galfond challenge ranks among the most popular challenges in recent times.

Well, the galfond challenge which pitted Phil Galfond against podcaster Brandon Adams is over, albeit prematurely.
Brandon Adams conceded defeat which marked the end of one of the most controversial heads up challenges in poker history.

First attempt

During the first attempt, Adams surrendered after going down a little over $16k with a handful of hands remaining. However, the circumstances surrounding his early exit were somewhat complicated. In fact, arbiters had to be involved in the final day after Adams accused Galfond of slow playing to run down the clock.

The controversy played out on twitter with the players trading accusations. The drama only  ended after arbiters, Isaac Haxton and Max Silver, were called in to decide the number of hands to be played.

Unfortunately, Adams quit after managing to cut Galfond’s lead to $16.5k. However, they agreed to transition to WSOP.com for an online challenge.

The second attempt was drama-free. They had ealier agreed to play 10,000 hands of PLO, $100/$200 blinds. However, with less than 3,000 hands to go, Adams was down $270,000 and saw no need to complete the challenge. As a result, he forfeited an additional $100,000 pushing his losses to $370,000.

Jungleman Challenge

Even though the challenge against Adams ended prematurely, another one is the works. Galfond will try to extend his winning streak against Dan “Jungleman” cates. However, it is worth noting that they are yet to set the ground rules as well as the date of the match. We can only speculate at the moment.
