Phil Ivey is on fire this month. He has earned two titles, five final table appearances, and almost $2.9 million in the earnings. Phil has also won 10 World Series of Poker bracelets and has added his name to the Poker Hall of Fame. The 45-year-old managed to beat 32 entries in the 2022 Super High Roller Series Europe $50,000 buy-in pot-limit Omaha event. He defeated the Ali Imsirovic heads-up to secure first place with a top prize of $640,000.

The lifetime tournament earnings of Phil Ivey have now increased to more than $34.6 million. Phil is now in 9th place on poker’s all-time money list. He surpassed Cary Katz ($34. 6 million), Mikita Badziakouski ($34.5 million), and Fedor Holz ($34.3 million).

Ivey’s magnificent run in Cyprus helped him earn 9th place in the Card Player of the Year race. He is now in second place in the PokerGo Tour rankings and has 384 PGT points after his recent title run.

The Final Table

Phil Ivey entered the second and final day of the event with the third position in terms of chip lead after Imsirovic and Joni Jouhkimainen. The total player count was seven, out of which only five were set to earn some money. The elimination started with Tomas Ribeiro followed by Russia’s Iakov Onuchin. Imsirovic’s move somehow guaranteed a six-figure prize for the rest of the participants.

Dylan Weisman, a Bracelet winner, lost to Phil Ivey and got fifth place for a total prize count of $112,000. Weisman won the $25,000 buy-in PLO event at the US Poker Open, a few weeks earlier.

The Finnish poker pro, Eelis Parssinen was next in the elimination line. His 7 river added to Imsirovis’c improvement after which he secured the pot. Parssinen earned $176,000 for fourth place. Joni Jouhkimainen’s sixes full of five were not enough and lost his majority of stacks against Imsirovic’s tens full of sixes. He lost a few moments later to Imsirovic and finished third place for $256,000.

 

The Heads Up

Imsirovic had 2,705,000 to Ivey’s 2,095,000 in the heads up. There was no looking back for the Ivey after calling the river bet with trips, which earned him the lead. Imsirovic went for the minimum to stay in the hand, 50,000 from the button with K, Q, 6, and a 2. He called when Ivey raised to 150,000 with A, A, 8, 4.

Imsirovic went all-in for his remaining 350,000 for Ivey’s bet for the flop which was Q, J, 3. Imsirovic decided to make the call with the top pair but was losing to Ivey’s aces. The turn showed 4 provided Imsirovic a gutshot draw. The 7 on the hand decided Imsirovic’s fate and went home with $416,000 for his second place. Ivey locked up the pot and secured first place.

Imsirovic’s has won four titles and nearly $2.9 million in 2022 with 16 final table finishes. The 27-year-old Bosnian poker pro is an emerging star and currently holds the title of Player of the Year for the Card Plater and PokerGo Tour point races.
