After 13 years of pure bliss, Redkings has thrown the towel on its online poker and sports betting platforms.
Redkings is a reputable online poker room which is part of the popular Microgaming Poker Network. The online casino announced that it will close its poker and sports betting platforms on 28th April. However, its online casino will continue with normal operations for the time being.
The statement released by the casino read in part:
“After nearly 13 years of shuffling cards at the tables, we regret to inform you that we are closing two of our products on RedKings (Poker and Betting). The casino will continue as normal and your account will stay active. You will be able to access your funds to play or withdraw at any time using your same login details.”
“You can also continue to play poker and finish your existing bonuses with RedKings until the 28th April, but new bonuses will no longer be issued and the monthly Chase and Point per Day promotions have now been stopped for April.”
About Redkings
Redkings is owned and operated by SkillOnNet and has been in existence for more than a decade. They joined the Microgaming Poker network community 2 years ago. Originally, Redkings was part of the Ongame Network that closed its doors a few years back.
Before parting ways with the Ongame Network, the poker platform was heavily criticized for having high rakes. It is the criticism that pushed the poker platform to move to the Microgaming Poker Network in 2016.
On the other hand, the sportsbook was unveiled in 2010 using Every Matrix’s OddsMatrix platform.
Despite the criticism, the platform has managed to attract a huge following. However, due to strict regulatory restrictions in the United States, Redkings only targeted European audiences and hence faced stiff competition from poker titans such as PokerStars and 888 Casino.
However, Redkings remains to be one of the pioneers of online poker.
What next for Redkings poker players?
From a statement released by the casino, Betsafe poker room, which is also part of the Microgaming poker network, has agreed to host players from Redkings.
In addition, players have been given up to 28th April to satisfy wagering requirements on the bonuses still unused. However, the sports betting platform will officially close on 24th April.
Even though the operator did not give reasons for the abrupt closure of the platforms, it is likely that the compliance costs in most regulated markets were cutting into their bottom line.
