Takeouts from the Main Event
The $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship of the 2021 World Series of Poker had about 6,650 entrants but it all concluded on the 223rd hand at the final table which was the decider of the winner.
The 2021 Main Event was triumphed by German Koray Aldemir who took home the $8 Million prize as the last standing player. On his win, Aldemir commented, “It’s the dream of every poker player, I don’t know what to say.”
On the other hand, the runner-up, American George Holmes, won a $4.3 Million payday by going through with a pair of kings that was finished by Aldemir by a two-pair of 7s and 10s. The third position of the Main Event was scored by Jack Oliver who took home $3 Million.
Phil Hellmuth Creates History
Phil Hellmuth, also known as the “Poker Brat”, has created poker history by winning 15 World Series of Poker bracelets which is 5 more than anyone else in the tournament. He was also among the final four in the Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship and among the final table of the non-NLH games.
Phil Hellmuth also secured the sixth position at the $25,000 H.O.R.S.E. in which he won $95,329. Furthermore, he also scored 18th place at the $1,500 Dealers Choice with a prize money of $4,429.
Player of the Year WSOP 2021
The conclusion of WSOP 2021 officially marked the Player of the Year which was awarded to Josh Arieh presented by Velo. The various events won by the players included:
- Event $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha
- $50,000 Poker Players Championship
- $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Championship
He also broke records with three more events along with 12 flows of cash with over $1.1 million in prize money, two WSOP bracelets, and the honor or WSOP 2021 Play of the Year.
It was a true battle with three players competing to take over Arieh’s lead. The three players included:
- Phil Hellmuth who almost took the lead with victory in the $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller
- Daniel Negreanu who lost to Arieh in the $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller
- Ben Yu who fell to the 10th position and lost the 2021 WSOP Player of the Year officially to Arieh.
$50,000 PLO High Roller Winner
The $50,000 PLO High Roller of WSOP 2021 was won by Jeremy Ausmus who defeated the Main Event’s winner, Phil Hellmuth to score his 3rd WSOP gold bracelet.
Among other games, Ausmus also secured the $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller and earned $1,188,918. He also topped the honors in the $1,000 COVID-19 Relief Charity Event. Even after his amazing victory, Ausmus joked, “I’m not down now, I’m going to finish the World Series a winner for sure now, so that’s good. It was close there for a while, though.”
Ausmus also won one of the final gold bracelets of the tournament to be ever honored at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. So, at the WSOP 2021, Ausmus won three final tables, nine cash prizes, and two victories!
